We've already been assigned our first programming project in my Java class. We will be doing all of our programming with Java's own free IDE called NetBeans. Apparently the program itself was written in Java. As i've come to expect from these types of apps, it seems full-featured but is very slow and ugly.
I shouldn't be complaining because it's free and it runs on my Mac, but i feel so dirty using it. For starters the menu is at the top of the window instead of the top of the screen. Some buttons appear to be images and are placed next to standard system UI widgets of different sizes. Nothing seems to line up quite right. In addition to my cosmetic complaints, i've had some performance issues as well. The stupid app crashed just as i was finishing up the first draft of my program. I've really got to learn to save more often.Posted by Matthew at January 16, 2005 05:58 PM
